Dodge plans three unveilings in August: including Electric Muscle Car Concept

Dodge confirms it plans to unveil three vehicles, including an electric muscle car concept during what it calls “Speed Week” in August. The events will take place from August 12 to 20, 2022. The reveals coincide with the Woodward Dream Cruise, which celebrates automotive classics, especially muscle cars. Dodge is currently marketing two high-performance muscle cars, the 2022 Dodge Challenger and the 2022 Dodge Charger.

Big Dodge Reveals Scheduled for Speed Week

Dodge says the next chapter of the Dodge brand will be unveiled during Dodge Speed Week with three consecutive days of global product reveals scheduled for August 15-17, 2022, at M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan.

“There is no better place to unveil a new performance direction for the Dodge brand than right on Woodward Avenue in metropolitan Detroit, with tens of thousands of our closest fans and friends,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge Chief Executive Officer – Stellantis. “Last year we introduced our two-year Never Lift roadmap at Roadkill Nights, and this year the event will serve as a prelude to going full throttle on Never Lift. All I can say is that the future of our brand will be on display during Dodge Speed Week, and we’re throwing open our garage doors for our fans to take a look for themselves. It’s going to be an electric summer for Dodge.”

Dodge plans three revelations

  • Monday August 15 – Current Muscle Announcements
  • Tuesday, August 16 – Announcing Gateway Muscle
  • Wednesday, August 17 – Future muscle announcement

Back in April, Tim Kuniskis told us he hopes to unveil the electric muscle car concept around the Woodward Dream Cruise and the event they call Roadkill Nights. When asked about the electric muscle car, Kuniskis said they are waiting for a key piece before they can unveil it. He said, “It’s beyond my control, it’s beyond our industry.” He doesn’t want to get into what the hold-up is. He also joked that supply chain issues are giving him gray hair. Kuniskis did not share any other details about the expected size or performance of the muscle car EV. I can’t wait to see it.

Kuniskis also said during the same interview that he hopes to unveil the muscle car concept before the official unveiling of the Dodge Hornet plug-in EV. Dodge said last year it was planning a PHEV and it appears the Hornet will be a small crossover SUV based on the Alfa Romeo Tonale. The Tonale debuted in February and is expected to go on sale in the United States later this year. Currently, Dodge has the Challenger and Charger muscle cars, as well as the Dodge Durango SUV. The smaller Hornet should increase the brand’s appeal, especially for entry-level buyers. Again, CEO Kuniskis said supply chain issues could cause delays in the Dodge Hornet’s launch. It now appears that they must have resolved the supply chain issues.

Dodge’s Speed Week

Dodge says it will review its Speed Week events on August 12, 2022. It will once again participate in Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge. Dodge enables responsible drivers to participate in legal street racing on a private track on the famous Woodward Avenue. The races are held in a controlled environment, run by professionals with vehicle safety inspections, driver evaluations and track safety.

Speed Week reaches its crescendo on August 20 with the Woodward Dream Cruise. The Dream Cruise is the largest one-day automotive event in the world, with an estimated 40,000 vehicles and over a million spectators.
