New Challenger Hellcat Widebody kit from Power Brokers with direct connection

Ever since the groundbreaking 2018 Dodge Demon came out, fans of the latest Dodge Challengers have coveted the Demon’s widebody look in their quest for a Hellcat Widebody kit. The arrival of the Dodge Demon was immediately felt in the aftermarket and several companies ventured into the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Widebody conversion market. You may remember our first report of a Hellcat Widebody conversion kit in 2017 here from AVS (other major players in the Demon Widebody conversion marketplace include Vicrez, BMC Extreme Customs, and Liberty Walk).

While aftermarket Demon and Hellcat Widebody Challenger conversion kits have been around in the aftermarket for at least five years, none of the Hellcat Widebody kits are exactly the original SRT Demon or Redeye. It’s not necessarily a matter of whether these manufacturers are able to pull off the exact look, it’s a matter of copyright infringement, which Dodge strictly enforces. Another issue is the quality of manufacture and the difficulty of installation, which are notoriously variable in the aftermarket body kit industry. What has always been needed is a pitch-perfect Widebody Challenger conversion kit direct from Dodge, which we’re pleased to report will soon be available through Dodge’s new Direct Connection Power Broker catalog which you can view and download here.

Direct Connect Power Brokers will soon be offering for sale a set of Hellcat Widebody kits that will allow customers to upgrade their 2015 Dodge Challengers to 2019 Hellcat Widebody bodies in stages to suit many budgets. Customers can choose to upgrade just the hood, bumper/dash, air-catcher headlights or Widebody fender pieces, or do the entire Hellcat Widebody kit enchilada at once. Customers with a larger budget may choose to have the Hellcat Widebody kit pieces painted to fit and installed at one of Dodge’s dedicated Direct Connection Power Broker installation centers, although details on installation centers are still pending. The best part is that all work done on a Hellcat Widebody kit at a Direct Connection Power Broker is under warranty, so your vehicle’s standard warranty and any Mopar extended warranties at the point of sale will remain in effect.

Each Dodge Challenger Hellcat Widebody Conversion Kit includes detailed installation instructions, templates, and a helpline number (800-998-1110) to guide customers through the purchase, shipping, and installation process. It’s all free, thanks to Dodge’s SRT Concierge Service Division, a dedicated operations center that has historically handled custom delivery options for SRT vehicles, including the Dodge Demon. As you peruse the Direct Connection Power Broker catalog, you’ll also notice several other enticing performance upgrades you’ll want to investigate (watch HOT ROD for details as they become available). Among them are kits for all stripes of Dodge Challengers, including for owners of 3.6-liter Pentastar, 5.7-liter Hemi, 6.4-liter Hemi, and Hellcat Hemi cars. For now, though, we’ll focus on the cosmetic upgrades that can make any 2015 Challenger look like a 2019 SRT Hellcat Redeye, including the stuff you need from other places to complete the visual conversion.

Challenger widebody fender kit

At the heart of any Challenger Hellcat Widebody kit conversion is a widebody fender kit of sorts. Direct Connect Power Broker’s Challenger Widebody Fender Flare Kit (Part No. 77072552AB, $2,495) consists of actual assembly line components that Dodge uses to build the SRT Redeye Widebody Challenger. The Hellcat Widebody kit parts are designed for tire sizes up to the 315mm of the Dodge Demon (the Redeye uses slightly narrower 305/35R20 tires). Users should note that cutting and drilling of body panels is required for installation, so once you start cutting your side panels there is no going back. All hardware, instructions and templates are included, and the front end in the kit removes the factory fog lights on cars equipped with them (wire termination plugs are included).

Hellcat front panel

Direct Connect Power Brokers say the new Hellcat Front Fascia Kit (Part No. 77072556AB, $1,995) increases airflow to the engine bay, improving engine cooling and increasing downforce, but more to the point that this kit is designed to make any regular 2015 lending Challenger a true Hellcat face without the sky-high counter-prices of dealer parts. The Hellcat Front Fascia Kit eliminates factory equipped fog lights, so once you’ve gotten used to that feature you’ll have to look closer, but the kit does include connection plugs for fog light wiring and does not require the use of the Hellcat Widebody Fender Kit to fit correctly or look good.

2019 Redeye hood

If you really want to capture the look of a Hellcat Widebody Challenger, the Redeye is the apex predator most worthy of imitation. For a Widebody conversion, the Direct Connection Power Broker Redeye Hood (Part No. 77072554AB, $1,495) is not a requirement for the rest of the parts to fit properly, but the dual snorkel hood scoops have the potential to provide all the air needed for 807 horsepower (you need to pick up a few more power parts, of course!)

Challenger Illuminated Air-Catcher Headlamp Kit

Similar to the Redeye’s double snorkel hood, the Direct Connection Power Brokers’ Illuminated Air-Catcher Headlamp Kit (Part No. 77072548AC, $1,675) gives any 2015 Challenger the same look as the mac-daddy Redeye. These pieces are the foundation of the Redeye’s voluminous cold air intake system, and you’ll need them to legitimately complete the Redeye look. Making them part of a wholesome 807 horsepower breakfast, however, requires a bunch of hardware under the hood that’s beyond the scope of this review (for those looking for the power to give the look of a Hellcat Redeye to match or surpass, check out the smog-legal Hemi performance gear at Petty’s Garage, and see a fine example of a 1,000 horsepower conversion here).

Hellcat Widebody-Look Wheels

The new Direct Connection Power Brokers catalog is missing a set of Redeye Widebody wheels, but to create the Widebody conversion look you need them, along with a set of tires of the correct size. We’ve found what you’re looking for at Discount Tire Direct as the Replica Alloys Hellcat Widebody 2, which is offered in both Matte Black and Bronze. You could buy a set of genuine 20×11.5 Redeye Widebody wheels over the counter from a Dodge dealer using a friend’s Redeye VIN and pay top price, but this is a smoke deal for only $232 each.

Red eye widebodyTire size

Original equipment tires for high-end performance cars are notoriously expensive, so when we find a high-quality UHP tire from an established tire manufacturer that costs far less and performs indistinguishably from the OE tire, we have no qualms about choosing an alternative to propose. Such is the case with General Tire’s GMAX RS, which we recently tested on a 392 supercharged Petty-prepped Dodge Challenger at a track. In a size 305/35R20 (the size used on the Widebody Redeye), a set of GMAX RS skins rings for a pleasant $1,096 from Discount Tire Direct, plus shipping.

Power Steering Cooler Upgrade

One last point that we would like to bring to your attention that pops up from time to time on various Dodge Challenger message boards is the issue of power steering pump failure on pre-2019 Dodge Challengers. Here’s the background: Cars built before 2019 use hydraulic rack and pinion steering and cars built in 2019 and later use electronic power steering (EPS). EPS first appeared on the 2018 Dodge Demon because its wide 315mm footprint could overwhelm the factory hydraulic power steering. The Challenger’s hydraulically assisted rack and pinion has also been known to overheat and cause pump failure, even with standard 275mm wide baloneys, so Dodge engineers have made the switch to EPS on all cars starting in 2019. For a Hellcat Widebody kit conversion on a 2018 and older Challenger, you can still use the standard hydraulic-assisted steering, but if you intend to take hard, fast turns, a larger power steering auxiliary cooler should be considered a necessity .
