Ram Trucks introduces the Ram 3500 Limited Longhorn to the Brazilian market!

Since its arrival in Brazil in 2005, the Ram 2500 has been the most powerful and capable pickup on the market. In April 2021, Ram began shipping its second product to the country, the Ram 1500 Rebel. Less than a year later, Ram launches the Ram 3500 to represent not just the new flagship product, but the entire segment.

Already arriving at 55 dealerships across Brazil, Ram aims to deliver the brand’s four core pillars of power, capacity, luxury and technology. The Ram 3500 is the first Ram model to be launched in Brazil with two prominent models. There’s the Laramie, which includes the popular darkened Night Edition option. Then there’s the Limited Longhorn, an unprecedented configuration in the country that carries the maximum sophistication within the brand.

Power –

At the heart of the Ram 3500 is the iconic 6.7-litre Cummins turbo diesel inline six-cylinder engine. The engine produces 377 horsepower at 2,800 rpm, the highest power of any diesel pickup in Brazil (12 more than the Ram 2500). Even more impressive is the 1150 Nm (845 ft.-lbs.) of torque @ 1,700 rpm, a segment record (65 Nm or 48 ft.-lbs. more than the Ram 2500). Unlike the 2500, the Ram 3500 has the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system, which uses Arla 32 (also known as DEF in North America) to treat exhaust gases and reduce pollutant emissions.

As for the transmission, a 6-speed automatic transmission is standard. One of the highlights is the torque converter’s Variable Force Solenoid (VFS), which has the function of smoothing shifts when shifting from R (Reverse) or D (Drive) to P (Park) position. Electronic controls on the dashboard allow the driver to choose between 2WD, 4HI and 4LO traction modes. The rear differential is non-slip.

Capacity –

The new Ram 3500 has unmatched numbers when it comes to loading and towing. Thanks to an extremely rigid chassis, formed with 98.5% high-strength steel and the exclusive suspension, with longitudinal springs, resulting in great suitability for the heavy work, honoring the Heavy Duty category of which it belongs, but without the ride comfort of a premium pickup.

The Brazilian spec Ram 3500 can carry a payload of up to 1,752 kg (3,862 lbs) and tow up to 9,021 kg (19,888 lbs). Way ahead of any other pickup sold in Brazil, even the Ram 2500, which can carry 1,088 kg (2,398 lbs) and tow 7,861 kg (17,330 lbs). That is 664 kg (1,463 lbs) and 1,160 kg (2,558 lbs) respectively. All these capabilities are supported by the gear limiter, electronic trailer brake control, in addition to the diesel exhaust braking and tow/pull function.

The RamBox also features side pockets, which are fully closed and lockable and each has a capacity of 122 liters. Regardless of the configuration, the Ram 3500’s bed features a spray-in bedliner coating and LED lighting.

Even the exterior mirrors add to the pick-up’s power. They are multifunctional, with two lenses with independent electrical control, anti-fog, position, turn and entry lighting. Not to mention that the mirrors can be positioned vertically, to increase the field of view when towing a trailer.

Luxury –

The new Ram 3500 Limited Longhorn showcases most of the brand’s sophistication and it’s very easy and quick to see. Simply open the door, climb on the standard electrically extendable footboard (also on the Laramie Night Edition) and step into the cab. You are immediately surrounded on all sides by noble materials such as Natura Plus leather and real wood.

In an elegant combination of Cattle Tan and Black, the leather has contrasting stitching and covers not only the seats, but also several surfaces: part of the steering wheel, the gear lever, the upholstery and the interior part of the dashboard, the interior access handles . The armrests and the top door panel, and the center armrest, which doubles as a cover for the huge storage compartment.

In turn, wood, in different textures, is present in parts of the steering wheel, strips on the doors, center console and panel details. The material gives the Ram 3500 even more exclusivity, as each pick-up has different details, due to the wood’s own characteristics. One of the most eye-catching details is the front passenger strip, with the version name (Limited Longhorn Edition) lasered.

Also notable are the gold finishes with filigree on the rims of the speedometer and rev counter, on the dashboard and the center console. Even the 3500 Limited Longhorn rugs are special, with a decorative badge, country-themed embossed designs and Berber-esque parts that can be removed for easy cleaning. The Western inspiration is also reflected in the buckles of the magazine holders on the backs of the front seats.

Outside, the Ram 3500 Limited Longhorn stands out for its exclusive grille, wheel design and two-tone paint scheme with the upper body painted in Pearl White or Delmonico Red, with the lower cab, wheel arches, bumpers, and wheel details in Walnut Brown.

Technology –

The standard level of technology features of the Ram 3500 Limited Longhorn is yet another highlight. Starting at the front, with the Full LED Matrix directional headlights, exclusive to the pick-up segment. This technology increases night vision when cornering, with the projector following the steering position, turning the headlamp in one corner up to 15° and the headlamp on the other side up to 5°.

There are also many other highlights (which are also part of the Laramie Night Edition version) such as digital rear-view mirror, comprehensive Driving Assistance Package (ADAS), with adaptive cruise control (ACC) with stop, forward collision warning with autonomous braking, and lane assistant and first-class sound system from Harman Kardon, with 17 speakers and a subwoofer (Laramie models come with an Alpine system with 10 speakers and subwoofer).

All models of the Ram 3500 have a 360° camera, which facilitates maneuvering with the full-size pick-up with a length of more than 6 meters, front and rear parking sensors, in addition to the exclusive bed camera, useful for monitoring loads or facilitating the coupling in the trailer. Another highlight is the multimedia center Uconnect 5 with a 12-inch screen (the largest in the category) and wireless connection for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for two smartphones, as well as active external noise cancellation.

There are both heated and ventilated front and rear seats on Limited Longhorn (Laramie models have heated rear seats) and heated steering wheel. There are electrically adjustable pedals, a 10-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat and passenger seats with driver memory settings.
