The ‘Hellucination’ is a modified all-carbon Dodge charger that stays true to the original

American resto-mod gurus Speedkore have unleashed all their expertise and ingenuity to create yet another classic Charger. Also known as the ‘Hellucination’, this custom build gets its name from the 7.0-litre Dodge V8 Helephant engine that delivers a whopping 1000 horsepower. The car was designed and built for Stellantis Design Chief, Ralph Gilles, who finally realized his dream.

Overview

Cars like the old Charger are part of the fabric of the popular muscle car culture. Embodied by shows like the Dukes of Hazzard in the 1970s, young Ralph developed an affinity for Mopar. The primary goal was to create a modern and up-to-date interpretation of the all-American classic. After two long years of hard work, the construction is finally completed, and the results are nothing short of breathtaking.

Most intensive All-Carbon fiber to date

The coupé is modeled after the Dodge Charger from 1968, but with modern design elements such as LED lighting, both front and rear, made especially for this project. The build features a custom chassis with a full carbon fiber body that comes alive with a Glasurit finish. It follows the same SpeedKore principles of ‘Reduce Weight’ and ‘Increase Power’.

The build features

– Custom SpeedKore frame with perimeter reinforcements and roll cage

– Full SpeedKore carbon fiber underbody and wheel arches

– SpeedKore hood with carbon fiber hinged front

– Custom SpeedKore valances front and rear

– Custom SpeedKore front spoiler

With a broad and low stance, the Hellucination sits considerably lower than a regular Charger. Overall this ride looks good. Ralph adds that the ’68 Charger has so many fascinating details that it continues to inspire the Dodge design team to this day as they work on designing the next generation of performance.

However, the carbon is not limited to just the bodywork. Step inside and that same theme continues, whether on the dashboard, doors or rear side panels. Gabe’s custom interiors teamed up with RaceQuip to work their magic again by fitting custom seats with carbon fiber backs.

Classical instruments have created some fantastic analog meters, while a cracking 2000 watt Kicker audio system will keep you entertained if you ever get bored of the monster lurking under the hood.

Speaking of the engine, the Hellucination is powered by one of Mopar’s best. A 7.0-litre Supercharged V8 ‘Hellephant’ HEMI 426 crate engine that generates 1,000 horsepower. } The engine breathes through custom carbon headers. You also have a dry-sump lubrication system with a reservoir that sits in the trunk.

Both the oil and fuel lines run along with the modified frame, keeping things tidy under the hood. The V-8 is mated to an eight-speed ZF transmission, and you can hear its growl thanks to that Magna-flow exhaust.

Other SpeedKore chargers

This isn’t the first time SpeedKore Performance has worked with a charger known for its radical muscle car restoration projects. They take the old fashioned base formula and increase it to eleven. Over the years, they’ve made a range of all-carbon old-school Chargers in-house. They include builds like the

– Hellraiser – Kevin Hart is also with the Hellephant

– Hellacious – A fast 9 replica with hellcat powered mid-engine charger

– Tantrum – The charger that actually works in the Fast 9. prevents

– Evolution – The award-winning 1970s charger we’ve seen before in Jay Leno’s Garage

Conclusion

Given its iconic shape and cult following, it’s hard not to understand why the Dodge Charger still remains desirable nearly five decades later. It will be difficult to find a clear example which is why the people of Grafton, Wisconsin have taken matters into their own hands.
