With a roaring 840 horsepower, utilizing the 6.2-liter V8 engine with a 2.7-liter supercharger, the Demon beat all other pony cars. What drives Challenger SRT Demon?
The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon shared the same engine base as the Hellcat. The Demon’s engine had 97 extra parts and Dodge even had to rework it. Dodge upgraded the Demon with a more prominent, powerful 2.7-liter supercharger. Other changes included new connecting rods, new pistons, a new crankshaft, a new valvetrain and a new steel camshaft.
Dodge pulled out all the tricks to beef up the engine to handle the extra output, and it worked. We went from 707 horses and 650 lb-ft of torque in the Hellcat to 808 horses and 717 lb-ft of torque in the Demon. We get this performance when the demon runs at 91 octane. Switch it to high-octane 100-plus race fuel, and the Demon dishes out a ridiculous 840 horsepower and 770 lb-ft of torque. Dodge also had to change the eight-speed automatic transmission’s software to provide a transbrake function to launch this beast onto the drag strip.
The demon logged some neat numbers when he was spawned for a spin. It went from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.1 seconds, enough to beat the Tesla Model S, and then on a stickier surface. This beast covered the quarter mile in 9.65 seconds at 140 mph, and that was enough to ban the Demon from racing on a track without a roll cage. The demon leaves the starting line at a claimed 1.8g and hits 30 mph in just one second.
What changes has Dodge made from the Hellcat to Demon?
Inside, the Demon resembled the other Dodge Challengers. But, as with all other race cars, they stripped the car down to the boots. Dodge threw out the passenger-side seats, rear seat, and speaker. Dodge got rid of the trunk liner and saved a few more pounds. The Demon got the 18-inch wheels instead of the 20-inch to shave more pounds off the car. Even the front brakes had shrunk.
The customers could opt for the tamer package and received all the comfort and luxury. Those who wanted to keep the seats to take their passengers on infernal rides could have them for $1. The Demon also got a new hood with a bigger scoop. Dodge had to hollow out the inner driver-side headlight and route it to the airbox for the Demon, just like the Hellcat. Dodge also added an After-run Chiller that would give the car colder air, making it produce more power.

How much the 2018 Challenger SRT Demon costs today
Dodge started with the Hellcat, loaded that muscle car with enough power to drive the gas junkies crazy. Once he caught up to him, Dodge doubled over and said let’s take it one step further, and unleashed his demon. Their goal was to make the fastest and most powerful production ever, and they did it well. The mighty Demon made its debut at the New York Auto Show in April 2017.
